Day 86 in Melbourne

My luggage is so freaking full! Although i didnt brought back stuff, i ended up still having more stuff that before. Bought too many stuff from Melbourne. Now my freaking luggage is so full! Having some trouble squeezing everything in. I still end up having to carry some of my stuff.

By the time this post is up, i might still be on the sky, flying past pacific ocean on the way home :)

Finally home sweet home~ :)

Day 85 in Melbourne

Last day in Monash University! The feeling of unwillingness to hand over the keys of the office and the lab. The sad feeling of leaving the Wilkinson's group, leaving Monash University, leaving the people that changed me into a better person. I really will miss this place terribly! :(

Day 84 in Melbourne

Went to school early on our "LAST DAY" to grab some coffees :) Melbourne is a good place for coffee lovers! Their coffee is so goooooooodd! Grab a flat white for Brendan to thank him for the past 3 months~

When i went in to deliver a bar of chocolate and the cup of flat white, i cant totally see his eyes light up and he smile so happy! Glad to made his day :) I wanted to thank him but he ended up thanking me in return~ He even said that if i'm interested in coming back to Monash University for PhDs, he would be helping me apply for scholarship and he would be very pleased to have me back in his group again :) But that would be years later after i finish my Bachelor degree~

Took group photo not only with my group itself but also with Steven Langford, the head of school for Monash Chemistry~

Hearing compliments from your supervisor is gonna be the best feeling ever. This shows how well you've performed that you've impressed your supervisor! I have to say that i am really glad to hear compliments from Brendan :) Thank you so much!

Day 80 in Melbourne

Finally went to Puffing Billy! Its a steam train which runs at 180km/h! Open air where you can dangle your feet out of the train by sitting on the ledge! The first time i saw a train as cool as this! Feel the cool air blowing on your face, cooling you from the humid and warm surrounding! :)

Auntie Margaret fetch us from our house and sent us to Belgrave Railway station where we took our train to Lakeside~ So nice of her to send us and pack lunch for us just in case we cant find any food! Thank you :) Although the journey to lakeside is only an hour or more, the ride is so enjoyable that i don't want it to end. The only negative part is that there are so many young kids sitting around us and when they start becoming cranky and cry, its so annoying.

Walked around lakeside, enjoy the nature for probably the last time before we go back to Singapore, experiencing their summer, having picnic by the lake, eating home cooked bee hoon from Auntie Margaret. Wow this is life :)

The sun is just so prickling hot and the air is so humid! We even end up sitting in the air conditioned cafe eating ice cream, drinking soft drinks! Time to catch our train back to Belgrave. On the way back, it rain quite abit and its so cooling sitting on the ledge and letting rain drops fall on your legs. Warm air but cold rain drops~

Uncle Clement fetched us from Belgrave railway station and brought us around for some sightseeing and some viewing around estates at Berwick. We went to Cardinia Reservoir Park! Wow their Reservoir is so huge! All of Singapore's reservoirs add up together also cant match up to their reservoir! Looking at all their houses which is so pretty with nice view and environment! I just wish that i will get to live in houses like that in future :)

Finally we arrived at Auntie Margaret's abode :) While she is still preparing dinner, we watched Hercules~ Auntie Margaret cooked Kway Chap! Wow it is so nice :) How i miss eating Singapore style of food! Yumz! Thank you to Uncle Clement and Auntie Margaret for treating us so well, taking care of us so much! Greatly appreciated by us 3 :)

Auntie Margaret cooked for us! There are more food but didnt manage to take photo of them! Thank you for everything Auntie Margaret and family :)

Day 79 in Melbourne

Next week this time, i will be on the plane back to Singapore!

Woke up early to go out for breakfast and buy fresh meat from the butcher~ Ate at Caffe Corso where the food is soso. I believe that we can cook better food than them. The bacon is so salty, the mushroom is tasteless and the scrambled eggs is soso. I want to eat Queen Victoria Market's Caffe Scarletti food! Their food there is the top! Not only that the food at Caffe Corso is not nice, there is also a long waiting time for the food to arrive.

Grocery shopping after breakfast. The cheapest grocery we've ever bought for the past 11 weeks that we are here. Last week and not much to buy as we do not wish to waste too much food in the end. Baked countless batches of cookies. Not for us to eat but for giving to our colleagues and friends~

Went to school for a small workup and check my reactions. Then went to Hillary's house for hotpot with Patrick. A farewell dinner set up for us. I will definitely miss both of them so much when i go back. One is like a big brother, the other is like a big sister.

Hillary's hotpot is so much better than the hotpot restaurant that I've ate yesterday. She say its her family secret recipe for the soup broth~  Drank a glass of sparkling white wine with alcohol percentage of 12.5 and 2 cans of coke! OMG feeling so full!

Really grateful that Hillary invited us to her house for dinner. Chatted so much, laughed alot and had loads of fun :)

Day 78 in Melbourne

Last day of week 11! This week is my most productive week so far! Did so many reactions, workups, purification! But what can i say, everything is so fun and so interesting. No matter how tiring it is, i will always try my best to do every single step and make my way towards my final product!

Ate hot pot for dinner! The long awaited hot pot finally arrived! So full from eating! OMG everyday after eating, i either sit on my chair or lie on my bed. Too lazy to do anything else except reading my books!

A very busy day where i've done 3 workups, 2 reactions and 3 columns! Very very very productive! OMG but i feel so tired after school ends. These few days been sleeping at 10pm daily. Patrick calls me a column machine! Not sure whether to feel good or not.

Ate lasagna at this cafe in the new horizon building. The food is so good! OMG Yumz

Day 76 in Melbourne

Today and tomorrow is staff retreat so all the full-time staff went on a small little vacation or what they call "bonding" time. Productive day~

A tiring day where we really dont want to cook and end up buying dinner outside.

Ate some really nice kebab from the small little cart at the gas station nearby our house on our way home. It smells so nice and the taste is awesome! *thumbs up*

Day 74 in Melbourne

Last 10 days in the lab. Set up 4 reactions today and did one workup :) I can say that it is pretty productive as i will be so busy in the next couple of days doing all the workups and purfication for the reactions i've set up.

Bought a Monash University labcoat as my current labcoat is so dirty and filled with chemicals. I do not wish to risk bringing back chemicals from the lab and store it in my luggage. Safer to buy a new labcoat as most of the chemicals i've handled here are pretty toxic, irritant and possible carcinogen.

Day 73 in Melbourne

Slept in by abit but still got waken up by the strong sunlight seeping through my blinds. Had an awesome lunch at Queen Victoria Street, Caffe Scaletti. The same place, same spot but different meals. This time, me and Terrence had main course instead of breakfast.

Terrence had chicken fillet with chips and salad with Earl Grey tea. While i had Burger with bacon, eggs, onions, lettuce and beef patty with chips and English breakfast :)
A very big portion of lunch. I still cant adapt to their big portion. Didnt finish my meal even though it is freaking delicious :) Singapore cafe food really cant compare to these YUMMMMM

Look at my collection of Bundaberg drinks~ Everything is so good except for the Pineapple & coconut
After our delicious lunch, we went to shop at Queen Victoria Market for the last time for all the souveniors that we didnt manage to grab in the past weeks.

Genuine leather keychain!

More keychains! I realized that all my souveniors are keychain but oh well~

Handmade soaps! These soaps smell so good! Melon, peach, strawberry, rose, passion fruit and lavender!

Day 72 in Melbourne

Woke up pretty late and got ready for the trip to Phillip island! The first destination is a farm in Churchill island which has a very scenic surrounding. The horses them are so well groomed and very carefree~ I'll love to be a horse and live there haha!

Before leaving for the tour~

The scenic environment in Churchill island farm :) I love this place

Turkey!

This little chicken over here looks like a cute little Pomeranian!

A very good shot of the baby cow! Looks like a horrified cow but he is just chewing on a piece of carrot

Selfie with a newly sheared sheep~

Attempting to do a PTV sign.

Feeling so sad to leave the Churchill island but we must head towards our next destination which is the Koala Conservative Centre to see the place where successful breeding of Koalas are~

Spot the koala which is hanging on the tree behind me

Next destination is The Noobies, a rugged rocky outcrop where we took all the nice paranoma view of the sea. Paranomic view of western port and maybe spotting some fur seals on the rocks if we are lucky~

The wind is just too strong!

Wallaby!
Finally we are on the way to our final destination which is the penguin parade on the summerland beach. A chance where we can see the world smallest penguins, little penguin, waddle their way back to their burrows from the sea.

Before we entered the penguin parade, i found out that we lost one of the entrance ticket and went to speak to the manager with our bus driver. Our bus driver is so kind and helpful and helped us obtain a free entrance towards the penguin parade. So lucky! OMG i cant imagine us buying another ticket because we lost one of it. Grateful towards our bus driver and the manager in charge.

Took a green screen photo of us with little penguins, a form of souvenior as no photos of the penguins are allowed to be taken. I really love the photos a lot. They are not that expensive also :)

It's a pity that no photos can be taken once we entered the summerland beach as it will be a form of threat towards the penguins and cause them to be afraid. Waited till 8.40pm before we saw the first batch of little penguins waddling their way back home. They are so damn cute! Cuteness overload in a single day.

Saw and took a photo of the rainbow before we entered the penguin parade.

It is really a lucky day for us! Not only we got to enter the penguin parade without wasting any more money, gotten a great photo of us with penguins and we even manage to see a full rainbow which there wont be alot of chance. Too bad i didnt took the photo of the full rainbow. Only managed to capture half of it before we enter the beach.

Went back to the city from Phillip island at 10pm and reached Flinders street at 11.36pm. Took the train and reached Clayton at 12.30pm. Waited for quite some time for "13 cabs" before reaching home. This is the latest we have ever stay out. Was too tired and went to sleep almost immediately after washing up.

Its pretty cute that "13 cabs" is not pronounced as "thirteen cab" but pronounced as "one three cab" HAHA
